In response to:
To Moscow Again from the July 30, 1964 issue
To the Editors:
Your review of The Three Sisters contained the suggestion that the actors playing Kulizan and André are from the Bronx. Albert Paulsen is from Argentina and I am from Wisconsin. If your reviewer meant that we are Jews, please tell him that all Jews don’t come from the Bronx, and tell him that the line between criticism and insult is narrow. Yours in anger,
Gerald Hiken
New York City
F. W Dupee replies:
I am truly sorry that my remarks gave offense. But I fear that Mr. Hiken misunderstood their intent. I was writing about acting styles, not about ethnology.
