To the Editors:

In his Cuban diary article, my husband mentions my six pairs of shoes being carried off for spraying. Sounds like a vulgar display of American consumer habits! Truth is, one pair was for “good,” the other five, old ones I take on travels and change into and out of when my feet hurt!
