Betrayals from the April 6, 1972 issue
To the Editors:
As I’m sure has already been pointed out to you by someone else, Michael Wood’s otherwise excellent review of Gabriel García Márquez’s latest collection of stories [NYR, April 6] contains one rather misleading statement; in it he refers to a story, “Tuesday Siesta,” from Los Funerales de la Mama Grande as not yet having appeared in translation. In fact, this isn’t true. J. S. Bernstein included it in his collection No One Writes to the Colonel and Other Stories, published by Harper & Row in 1968.
