To the Editors:
This is to inform your readers that Amnesty International (USA) is sponsoring a press conference, to be followed by a panel discussion, as the beginning of our 1973 campaign for the abolition of torture. Readers are invited to attend the meeting, which will be held on April 30 from 1 to 4 PM at the Graduate Center of City University of New York, 33 West 42 Street (Studio—3rd floor). The meeting is to be chaired by Lord Caradon; participants will include Ramsay Clark (USA), Joel Carlson (South Africa), Alexander Esenin-Volpin (USSR), Telford Taylor (USA), Augusto Boal (Brazil), and others who will discuss the growing problem of torture and what can be done to abolish it.
