In my article on J.R. Ackerley’s Hindoo Holiday [NYR, February 24], a phrase was inadvertently dropped somewhere between drafts. Concerning the Battle of the Somme, I should have stated “where sixty thousand British soldiers were killed or wounded on the first day.” Several readers pointed out this error.
