In his review of Amitav Ghosh’s The Glass Palace [NYR, March 8], Pico Iyer wrote that Mr. Ghosh was born in Calcutta of Burmese parents. In saying this he was relying on the publisher’s statement printed in the book under review. The publisher has now written that “in fact his parents are Indian.”
Aside from this, Mr. Ghosh, through no fault of Pico Iyer, was incorrectly identified as a teacher of anthropology at Columbia. While he previously taught at Columbia, he is now Distinguished Professor in Comparative Literature at Queens College in New York. We regret this error.
