In response to:
Love and Murder in Witless Bay from the June 9, 2011 issue
To the Editors:
It is good to be reviewed by such estimable writers as Martin Greenberg and Paula Fox; their dedication in describing the plot of and their admiration for the women characters in my novel What Is Left the Daughter [NYR, June 9] were especially heartening. May I point out that in fact, situated on the same road as Great Village (childhood home of Elizabeth Bishop), Nova Scotia, are indeed villages whose names contain the word “Economy”? They are not invented; in this regard a more detailed map might’ve been useful. I’d bet it would be quite surprising to people who live in those lovely Nova Scotia outports to discover that they don’t exist.

We stand corrected.
