In response to:
The Fabulous La Fontaine from the December 18, 1997 issue
To the Editors|n:
I have learned from both friendly and less friendly sources that I foolishly conflated Charles and Claude Perrault in my review of Marc Fumaroli’s study of La Fontaine [NYR, December 18, 1997]. I did once know that the architect and the writer of fairy tales were different although siblings, and it was ridiculous to forget it.
